Information For Sellers
 
If you want to sell something, you need to register an account. This is very simple to do.
 
Click On Register
Enter your name
Enter your email address
Enter your chosen password
 
Once you've done this just click on a category and then click on submit ad.
 
To submit an advert all you need to do is put a title for your advert, then a picture if you want to, and a description. For the description we recommend you do as you would for a newspaper advert, something like:-

Description - Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie. CD in perfect condition. £5. Tel. 01856 000000
 
You will receive information to the email address supplied at registration and people can ask you about the advert by clicking on Respond To Advert. Note anyone doing this will not actually see your email address.
Information For Buyers
 
Buyers don't need to register. Just click on the catagories and browse the ads. You can start communicating with the seller by clicking on Respond To Advert or by any other means that may be included in the advert description.
 
You may be wondering ...
 
... why anyone would offer such a service completely free of charge. You are right to wonder, but this service is run by Orkney PC and as our many thousands of customers already know, we offer many services free of charge. Why? Because we can. Having set up all the software and the database at the heart of the system, this site runs itself, we have no work to do. The service costs us nothing to run because we run it on our own web server.
 
As it happens, for us to break even on this we do need to bring in £30 a year. But we'll figure out a way to do that and you can be assured it will not be done by charging for adverts - ever.

As good a concept as this is, it will only be useful if people put stuff up for sale, so have a look in the loft and see what you have that would be better turned into cash. The key to this service is that you can sell something for a fiver and keep the whole fiver, no advertising charges, no risk, no cost to you in any shape or form.
